The Elegance of Hijab

The pea is a splendid plant. It proudly displays its strong green Hijab. It protects it from the hot and cold weather and guards it from insects. Allah has blessed the pea with a special Hijab, because without it, the seeds would scatter, dry up and die.

The orange keeps itself within its shiny orange Hijab to protect its delicious fruit. Otherwise it loses its taste too.

So are the banana, the coconut and the pomegranate. Each one has an elegant and unique Hijab, which protects it from disease and destruction.

The jewel of the sea, the pearl, has been given a very tough and rugged Hijab - oyster shell. It protects it from sea animals and keeps it sparkling and shining inside.

The delicacies and exotic chocolates of this world are covered to protect them from bacteria and preserve their taste. Besides being so elegant it adds to its value!

However, the most beloved of Allah in all His creation is the Muslim girl who wears the Hijab. She knows it is a gift from Allah. It protects her from harm, injury and mischief. She wears it knowing it gives her dignity, beauty and respect. So precious she can be that she hides herself beneath her Hijab.

Do you wear a Hijab? Give it a try today

Hijab opens so many more doors than it closes, spiritually and socially. It is unfortunate that there are so many obstacles to our finding this joy and fulfilment, but our best course of actions is to be aware of them, deal with them, and continue this form of  struggle in the way of Allah.

For Muslim women, COVERING THE HEAD IS NOT THE SIGN OF DEGRADATION or oppression. It is a commandment from Allah!!! Allah  would not discriminate against women, a segment of His creation.

Rather, HEAD-COVERING IS A SIGN OF PURITY AND DIGNITY. It highlights the Muslim woman as a pure, chaste woman and sets her apart from the immoral behaviour associated with women who dress immodestly.

The HIJAB IS A SORT OF "SCREEN" BETWEEN THE CHASTE MUSLIM WOMAN AND THE EVIL THAT EXISTS IN THE WORLD. When a woman wears a hijab she is less likely to be harassed by men with lusty motives; SHE IS LESS LIKELY TO BE EXPLOITED FOR HER BEAUTY AND FEMINITY.

The Hijab allows a woman to move about outside the confines of her home WITH HER ATTENTION ON THE TASKS SHE HAS SET OUT TO DO. The Muslim woman does not try to impress anyone but Allah when outside of her home. She is not concerned if men find her attractive, or if people are impressed because she has the latest fashions, or the newest hairstyle. She leaves her home as a SELF-CONFIDENT PART OF HUMAN RACE, not as a fashion-plate seeking stares and adoration in order to gain self-esteem. The hijab cuts down on competition among women. How many people in the West sacrifice financial savings and health in order to have plastic surgery - in a desperate attempt to meet up to an unrealistic standard of beauty.

IN ISLAM, WOMEN ARE APPRECIATED FOR THEIR KNOWLEDGE, PIETY AND CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY.When women wear hijab one finds that the most beautiful women are not necessarily the most popular. Rather, a woman is assessed for her mind, and not just superficial physical traits.

Insha'Allah we will all receive great blessings and heightened spiritual benefits from our efforts to obey His wise commands, and never forget, no matter how difficult it is, that Allah never puts burdens on us that we cannot bear, and the more we persevere, the more blessings we receive, insha'Allah. Whatever point you are at in your spiritual growth, remember that Allah knows what is in your heart and will not expect more of you than you are ready for. So keep preparing yourself so that you will be a strong, glowing vision of a person thoroughly committed to submitting herself to Allah, and proud of it!

And the Greatest Benefit of All………….

HIJAB IS A COMMAND OF ALLAH ON ALL BELIEVING WOMEN!!!!

"And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to Allah together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful" (Al Quran An-Nur:31)

"O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw their outergarments (jilbabs) close around themselves; that is better that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle." (Al Quran Al-Ahzab:59)

Day 3 and 4

I have eaten some real food! Yipppeee! Ate a tuna salad today with some lettuce, onions and allot of Tabasco. And for supper I had a chicken stir fry with cabbage, spinach, tomato and spices. It was so good to have food after 3 whole days of fruit.

Everything going well Alhamdulilaah, energy levels up and also resisting all temptations.

Having chicken curry made with chicken, onion, tomato and spices for lunch tomorrow with my 2 cracker breads :)

My first weigh in and measurements will be taken on Monday, InshAllah, no idea what to expect of the weight loss but will share.

Quraan lessons were lovely today, started Surah Yaseen and made an intention to start memorizing it, InshAllah. I will try my hardest, when you are older, its much more difficult to memorize.

Jumuah Mubarak!

Day 2 of the eating plan and Arabic Classes

As salaamu Alaykum

Yesterday was day 2, I was really grumpy for most of the day but the dizziness and headaches was gone. Had a bit more energy than I had on the first day.

So I am on day 3 today, gave myself the injection which wasn't that bad, did it in my thigh and didnt look at it when i poked it in. So I think instead of hubby giving them, I will give them myself :)

I attended the Darun Na'im li Zuhur Morning Intensive Arabic course for ladies yesterday morning. Met some ladies I have met before from another workshop as well. Alhamdulilaah, this is exactly what I was looking for and making dua for! Something to make my ibaadah morning meaningful!

The lecturer gave a beautiful overview of the course and also explained that this was Quraanic Arabic because we want to understand the arabic we are reading in the Quraan and the duas we say in our daily lives.

I am so super excited! We did a small lesson yesterday on changing arabic words from singular to dual and then also to male and female plurals, quite complicated but I am sure it will get better, InshAllah.

Oh did I mention that my goal weight was 65 kgs? Ok, Its 65 kgs, InshAllah :)

Day 1 of the eating plan

Alhamdulilaah I made it through day one which was tough! But I kept on making dua and focused on what I wanted.

Its actually day 3 but because the first two days I take the injections and eat normally, fortunately it fell over the right weekend when it was my husbands cousins wedding, so I could have all kinds of yummy food and deserts.

The first day of the detox which is today, I took the injection at 9 am and then had my breakfast of 250ml of strawberry protein shake and 300 grams of fruit. And I had 300 grams of fruit for lunch and 300 grams of fruit for supper. In between meals I had herbal teas and water.

My sense of smell was heightened to a new level! But I stuck it out and made it through! Alhamdulilaah.

So for the next 2 days I will be following the detox eating plan of fruit and taking my daily injections.

I have 18 kgs to loose, InshAllah!

STATS:

Current Weight: 83 kgs
Goal Weight: 65 kgs
Mini Goal #1: 78 kgs
Mini Goal # 2: 73 kgs
Mini Goal # 3: 68 kgs

I am determined to get to my goal weight, InshAllah!

Some other exciting news is I am finally starting my arabic language course! Alhamdulilaah, Allah has answered my duas and granted me the opportunity of learning the language of the Quran. The course is grammer, morphology and tafseer so I am super excited to start tommorrow InshAllah.

Thanks for all the ladies who have commented!
